SYNOPSIS

From mushishi.net:

Mushis are neither plant nor animal, neither microbe nor fungus. They are more like primitive life forms. Their existence is so innocuous that we don't notice that they exist until they have manifested some mysterious phenomena. They do not exist to frighten people; they just do. Throughout the story there are stories about Ginko, a wandering Mushishi, who knows about the Mushi and who acts as a mediator between humans and Mushi. During his journey, he meets various people and Mushi.

Yuki Urushibara is the author/artist of this manga which ran for 10 tankoubon. This series is published in Japan by Kodansha and in America by Del Rey.

Katsuhiro Otomo, the man behind the Akira anime, also directed a live movie version of Mushishi (see below).
